Why is my WFS shipment delivered but inventory not available to sell?

Trace a delivered WFS shipment through receiving, transfers, inventory availability and publication before deciding what to fix or send to Seller Support.

DIRECT ANSWER

As of September 2026, a WFS carrier delivery scan does not prove inventory is available to sell. Check shipment receiving, any transfer progress, the current inventory quantities and the item's publication status. A receiving issue, inventory movement and an unpublished listing need different actions.

The carrier says delivered, a launch is approaching, and the seller still cannot see stock available for customers. Sending another shipment or rewriting the listing before locating the problem can create a second task without resolving the first.

Start with a narrow question: which recorded condition currently prevents the item from being sold? Retail Reason recommends keeping the carrier event, shipment receiving, current inventory and publication decision in one dated evidence record. This approach is for U.S. Marketplace sellers and the agencies helping them investigate domestic WFS shipments.

Does delivered mean WFS has finished receiving?

No. Carrier delivery, warehouse receiving and customer availability are separate observations. The Walmart Preferred Carrier tracking guide explains that a carrier can report delivery to the facility’s yard before WFS scans the shipment. For a WPC shipment whose carrier website says delivered but Shipping Plans does not, check again after two business days and contact Support if receiving still has not started.

Receiving includes inspecting, counting and storing the units. It normally takes up to two business days; unplanned preparation, sales events, holidays and peak periods can extend processing to ten business days. Use Shipping Plans → Track → Track items to inspect the item’s shipped and received quantities, then View progress for detail. Treat counts as provisional while receiving continues. WFS receiving

Save the carrier’s delivery evidence with the shipment ID and assigned destination. A screenshot containing only the word delivered leaves the next person unable to establish which shipment and location it describes.

Did the shipment arrive at an ITS transfer station?

Inventory Transfer Service adds a distribution step. In the domestic ITS tracking experience, Shipment, Transfer station and Fulfillment centers show different parts of the journey. Compare units checked into the transfer station, checked out toward fulfillment centers, and received at those centers. A transfer-station arrival is not confirmation that every destination has received its share.

Walmart says some inventory may become available within four business days after arrival at the transfer station. That is not a guarantee for the entire shipment. The enhanced tracking views are not available for Walmart Imports shipments. ITS overview and tracking

For an approaching promotion, have the operations owner report the observed available quantity and remaining transfer progress separately. Avoid turning an estimated arrival into a commitment that every planned unit can support the promotion.

What does the Inventory page say about the item now?

On WFS Inventory, delivered units can remain Inbound until they become sellable. Available to sell identifies units customers can order. Unavailable to sell has a breakdown for inventory review and movement; select its quantity to inspect it. Reserved units belong to orders already placed and are excluded from available inventory. Check Publishing status separately: a published item still needs available inventory to be purchased. Manage WFS inventory

A Merchandise Transfer Request, or MTR, moves inventory already stored by WFS between fulfillment centers. It is different from an inbound ITS shipment. Use the unavailable-unit breakdown or the Inventory Reconciliation Report to review affected quantities. WFS inventory movements

Do not calculate a shipment shortage by subtracting today’s available stock from the amount originally shipped. One is a shipment count; the other is a current item-level quantity. Orders, other receipts and movements can change the second observation. Keep each quantity’s source and timestamp, and reconcile only records that describe the same item and event.

If the item has available units but is unpublished, inspect the recorded listing reason. A title rewrite, a new inbound plan and a receiving dispute are not interchangeable remedies.

Is there an action waiting on the seller?

Filter Shipping Plans by Issues, open View plan, then Track items and its Actions column. Problems can include preparation, damaged goods, unexpected items, excess units or an item identifier/setup mismatch. Follow the specific action shown for the affected item. Receiving issues and actions

Assign that action to the person who can verify it. Warehouse operations can supply shipment records; the catalog owner can compare the product identifier and fulfillment setup. Keep a requested correction open until the seller has applied it and the next observation establishes what changed. Preparing an edit is not evidence of acceptance.

How does this change the decision for a real work queue?

Fictional worked example. These products, quantities and observations are invented for instruction. They are not customer results or Walmart export samples.

An agency reviews three products before a kitchenware promotion. All three were described in an email as delivered but unavailable. The agency checks the carrier records, domestic ITS progress, WFS inventory and Catalog instead of opening one generic shortage case.

Fictional item Evidence recorded Decision and next observation
EXAMPLE-TIN-01 Carrier delivery is to an ITS transfer station. Of 96 units checked in, 64 have checked out toward fulfillment centers; receiving is still in progress. Operations follows the remaining transfer and receiving records. The agency does not describe the other 32 units as lost solely from this difference.
EXAMPLE-JAR-02 The latest inventory view shows 60 available units, but Catalog shows Unpublished. The catalog owner investigates the displayed publication reason. Confirm the customer-facing offer after the approved correction; additional inbound stock is not the identified need.
EXAMPLE-TRAY-03 Track items shows a receiving issue involving the item identifier and requests seller action. The catalog and warehouse owners compare the approved product identifier, shipment records and item setup. Submit the requested evidence through the indicated support path and record the resulting status.

Each row needs a next owner and a next observation. Close a receiving task with receiving evidence, a transfer task with the applicable movement observation, and a publication task with the corrected listing state. This keeps a single shipment from producing contradictory instructions across operations, catalog and the promotion team.

When should you request an investigation?

A carrier-status question and a shortage investigation have different timing. The receiving guidance requires a ten-day waiting period and says claims during or before that period will not be investigated. Do not wait indefinitely for a shipment to close while watching a potential discrepancy.

The investigation window is 10–50 days from tracking-confirmed delivery to the fulfillment center; a Closed status is not required. The public guidance uses days for this window and business days for receiving estimates. Follow the current eligibility instructions for the shipment rather than converting those terms into a homemade deadline rule. Investigation policy

The Investigate shipment button is available only for selected sellers and qualifying completed shipments with missing units. Use Help to reach Support when that route is unavailable. Receiving dispute access

Prepare evidence for the actual shipping method: non-WPC parcel requires proof of delivery with the destination street address; domestic LTL/FTL requires the bill of lading with shipper and carrier pickup signatures. WPC parcel does not require those documents. Reimbursement depends on the investigation, so opening a case is not a payment commitment. Investigation documentation

Download the blank WFS shipment evidence worksheet. Its fields are Retail Reason’s work record, not a Walmart upload template. Record the observation time and time zone, keep account evidence within your organization, and link the record to the support case when one exists. It intentionally contains no automatic shortage or claim-deadline calculation.

What are the limits of this answer?

This answer covers domestic U.S. WFS investigation decisions checked on September 7, 2026. It does not establish what happened to a particular seller’s units, promise a receiving date or determine reimbursement. Imports and account-specific tracking experiences can differ. The worksheet and fictional example explain an editorial method. Retail Reason offers guidance; it does not inspect your Seller Center, modify inventory or file retailer disputes on your behalf.
