STEP 1
Choose the workspace
Open Chat and select the business or client workspace for this task. Click New chat. A conversation and its files stay in that workspace; start a separate conversation for another client.
DOCS · CHAT AND FILES
Chat is included in your Retail Reason access. Sign in, choose a workspace, and ask for guidance, a review, or help with files. You do not need a separate AI subscription.
GET STARTED
STEP 1
Open Chat and select the business or client workspace for this task. Click New chat. A conversation and its files stay in that workspace; start a separate conversation for another client.
STEP 2
Name the retailer, supplier or Marketplace context, relevant period, and decision. Use a starter such as Investigate a deduction or Review item setup, or write your own request. Use Attach files when the task needs records.
STEP 3
Read the answer and its source information, check assumptions and missing evidence, and ask a follow-up. If you need a brief, tracker, workbook, or chart, request it explicitly and name the format.
FILES AND RESULTS
PDF, DOCX, CSV, XLSX, PNG, and JPEG. Each file can be up to 10 MB. A conversation holds up to five uploaded files, and selected files can total up to 40 MB per request. Office files also have a 16 MB limit when unpacked.
Use readable exports or copies without encryption, macros, embedded objects, active fields, or external data and image connections. Plain HTTPS hyperlinks are supported. Split large or complex files into focused inputs.
Open Files to see Files & results. Check Use in next message on each upload you want included. Removing an attachment from the next message leaves it in the conversation. Use Remove to remove the uploaded file.
Upload only information you are authorized to use in the selected workspace. Keep passwords, access keys, and unnecessary personal or confidential information out of the request.
Request XLSX or CSV for tabular work, DOCX or PDF for documents, or PNG for a chart. Generated results appear in the conversation and in Files & results. Select Download to save a copy.
Some formats require download to open in your document or spreadsheet app. Generated files receive a separate automated review before delivery; check the result before using it for a decision or sharing it.
Retail Reason works with the records you select and maintained guidance. It does not fetch live portal data, change bids, submit a dispute, approve a specification, or update retailer systems.
For advertising work, name the campaign and attribution period. For a ProSpec review, name the product category and specification stage. The task guide gives more starting points.
CHAT PROCESSING LIMITS
Website chat has separate file, storage, request-rate, and processing limits. A request may be declined when processing capacity is unavailable, and new chat work pauses while account usage is Under review. Saved results remain available subject to access and retention rules.
These chat-specific limits do not apply to requests through Retail Reason MCP connectors or plugins. Those connections retain their shared account, workspace, billing, security, and misuse controls, along with the connected provider’s requirements. There are no automatic overage charges.
YOUR CONVERSATIONS
Saved chats appear in your conversation history and expire 12 months after their last update. Choose Temporary before starting a conversation to keep it out of saved history; its content expires 24 hours after its last update. Reading a chat does not extend expiry.
Account closure or the end of the applicable recovery period can cause earlier deletion. Temporary mode uses the same provider processing and does not mean providers retain nothing.
Other account members, including administrators, cannot open your chats through the product. Share a result by downloading it or using Export conversation from the conversation menu. There are no public chat-sharing links.
Retail Reason and OpenAI process your messages and selected files. Privacy through the product does not exclude authorized operational or legal access. See Privacy for the full data flow and retention rules.
Use the conversation’s three-dot menu to Rename, Export conversation, or Delete conversation. Export first if you need a copy.
Deletion removes access to the conversation and deletes its message content while scheduling associated files for deletion. Provider and recovery copies follow separate rules; deletion does not promise immediate removal of every copy.
Use Stop to cancel work in progress. Earlier messages and files remain available. If the connection drops, use Refresh conversation to check the existing request before resending.
If a task cannot finish, read the error and narrow the request or split the input. More fixes are in Troubleshooting.
